US-bound Air Cargo Screening Requirements are Changing

Following is a Notice issued by Office of Transport Security, regarding the forthcoming change to piece-level screening requirements for air cargo to USA. The Notice is directed to exporters by OTS, however AFIF strongly recommends that members advise their own export customers about options for USA destined air cargo that are not restricted to the two simple options outlined by OTS. For example: under the 'ACCA' Program you are able to accept the cargo for lodgement with the CTO, who will conduct the necessary advanced air cargo examination.

“From 1 July 2017, screening requirements for air cargo to the United States (US) will change.

These requirements have been imposed on airlines by the US Government.  The Australian Government is working with businesses to help them comply with the US requirements, ensure readiness and reduce red tape while enabling a smooth transition.

As part of our communications campaign to increase awareness and assist compliance, we seek your assistance to distribute the attached email to your members who export to the US and others who may have an interest in these new requirements.

 OTS Email to Exporters

We will be providing you with two additional emails to send out to your members between now and 1 July with further information.

Thank you in advance for your help. If you have any inquiries or we can be of further assistance, please contact us via email to
