Patrick Port Botany Sydney Industrial Action Underway

Following is an update from Patrick on the Industrial Action currently underway at Patrick Terminal Port Botany.

"The MUA have taken illegal industrial action at Sydney Autostrad Terminal and ceased all quayside and landside operations from 1400 20th April.

The action is in response to concerns raised by the MUA regarding the sublease of undeveloped land on the Knuckle to Qube to be operated as an empty container park.

Patrick took the dispute to the Fair Work Commission late yesterday evening with the aim of resolving the issue and recommencing operations as soon as possible.

The commission ruled in our favour with an interim order for the MUA to cease all industrial action until the final determination at the next Fair Work hearing scheduled for Monday 24th April.

Employees have refused to go back to work on night shift last night and again on dayshift today breaching the interim orders.

Patrick are now seeking an injunction in the Federal court

All other Patrick terminals are continuing to work as normal.

We are currently exploring all available options including subcontract availability within the port to minimise impact to customers and will continue to keep you updated as the situation develops."

Patrick, National Operations Centre.

The MUA  action is confined to Patrick Terminal at Port Botany, due to a local site issue.
