Important Information - Air Cargo Security

The Federal Government has announced in the Budget an allocation of almost $300 million over 4 years on strengthening aviation, air cargo and international mail security. $121 million to be spent on increasing inbound cargo and international mail screening. 

The Office of Transport Security (OTS) has advised AFIF, as a member of the OTS Air Cargo Security Industry Advisory Forum, of its intention to provide RACAs, AACAs and Known Consignors with a STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL update on international security arrangements in the next few days. 

OTS advises RACAs, AACAs & Known Consignors “Make sure your contact details and GOVDEX subscriptions are up to date as Government will be going out to you directly with advice about outbound air cargo reform.” 

AFIF has discussed the arrangements with OTS and obtained their permission to issue this broadcast to Members.

Air Cargo Security Update at AFIF 2018 Conference

AFIF will be hosting a special session on Air Cargo Security at the AFIF 2018 Conference on May 25th in Sydney at Novotel Brighton Beach. Anita Langford, Acting Assistant Secretary, Air Cargo Security, Office of Transport Security, Department of Home Affairs will provide an update on the latest transport security arrangements and 100% piece-level screening. The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with senior representatives from each of the CTOs and Off-airport RACA, AMI.
