US-bound Air Cargo Screening Requirements are Changing – OTS Notice

Office of Transport Security has issued a Notice directed at Exporters, regarding the forthcoming change to piece-level screening requirements for air cargo to USA. AFIF strongly recommends that members advise their own export customers about options for USA destined air cargo that are not restricted to the two simple options outlined  in the OTS Notice. AACA’s Lodging ULDs of Uncleared Cargo to CTOs

Further to the item in last week’s AFIF News, highlighting the issue of AACA’s Lodging ULDs of Uncleared Cargo to CTOs. In addition to Menzies Aviation, dnata has now provided their feedback. Details in the Weekly News.

Patrick Port Botany Sydney Industrial Action Update

The Federal Court issued an Order to MUA to not undertake illegal and unlawful industrial action while the matter is before the Fair Work Commission. Talks are underway in the FWC this week and scheduled again on Monday 1 May 2017. Patrick Autostrad Terminal, Port Botany Quayside and Landside Operations are operating normally. 

DIBP - Maintenance of DIBP/ABF Border Website – Saturday 29 April 2017  

The DIBP inbound Internet service will be affected by maintenance this weekend. Between 15:00 and 15:30 AEST on Saturday 29 April, the environment that hosts www.border.gov.au website will be unavailable for external client access.

DAWR - Prohibited Packaging Statements - Industry Advice Notice 38-201 -Reminder

DAWR reminds clients that it will no longer accept ‘Prohibited packaging material’ statements from 16 June 2017. Consignment specific packing declarations containing the ‘Prohibited packaging material’ statement dated prior to 16 June 2017 will be acceptable for their intended consignment. Annual packing declarations containing the ‘Prohibited packaging material’ statement (regardless of their expiry date) will not be accepted for consignments shipped on or after 16 June 2017. DAWR - Reportable Biosecurity Incidents: Biosecurity Risk Incidents and Legal Reporting Requirements – Reminder

The Biosecurity Act 2015 (the Act) introduced the requirement for persons in charge of goods subject to biosecurity control, or an exposed goods order, to lodge a reportable biosecurity Incident (RBI) with the department in certain circumstances. As the person in charge, if a biosecurity incident occurs, you must report it to the department. Failure to report an incident is a criminal offence and can attract a civil penalty under the Act. DAWR - Implementation of Automatic Entry Processing (AEP) Reform Phase 1 Changes

It is anticipated that changes related to phase 1 of the AEP reform will be rolled out on May 6, 2017. This means that new commodities added to the AEPCOMM Approved Arrangement will be available to process under AEPCOMM from this date. Full Notice & Details in Weekly News

Qantas Announces Commencement of Australia to London Non-Stop Flight  

Qantas has announced a breakthrough in travel between Australia and United Kingdom with tickets going on sale for Qantas' Perth-London (Heathrow) route, commencing in March 2018. Daily flights on B787 will begin on 24 March 2018 and form part of a new Melbourne-Perth-London return service, a new QF9/10. More details in Weekly News
